This paper has a modest aim to consider specific evidence against Russell’s theory. In order to challenge this theory, we will first argue that if one in a situation in which France does not have king asserts that ‘the present king of France is bald’ and in another situation one asserts the logical form of the sentence, our judgment will be different about their truth values (call it ‘the disparity problem’). We will then consider the question that whether proponent of Russell’s definite description can explain the disparity problem or not. On behalf of proponent of Russell’s definite description, and on the basis of Grice's (1970) distinction between speaker meaning and sentence meaning, we will propose an explanation for the disparity problem; it also should be mentioned that the explanation is already endorsed by some proponents of Russell’s definite description (e.g. Sainsbury (1979, 1991); Morris (2003)). I will however argue that the explanation is not plausible. My argument will leave Russell’s theory in an un-defensible position in the sense that it shows Gricean defense against disparity problem is not plausible.}, keywords = {Definite description theory,Russell,Strawson,the disparity problem,Grice}, title_fa = {بررسیِ شاهدی علیه نظریۀ توصیفات راسل « مسئلۀ ناهم خوانی »}, abstract_fa = {بنابر نظریه توصیفات راسل ( 1905 ) محتوایِ جمله ای مثلِ "پادشاه فعلی فرانسه طاساست" توسط فُرم منطقی آن جمله یعنی اینکه "منحصراً یک چیز وجود دارد که پادشاهفعلی فرانسه است و آن چیز طاس است" قابل بیان است. این مقاله هدفی محدودرا برایطرح و بررسیِ شاهدی خاص علیه نظریۀ توصیفات راسل دنبال می کند. برای به چالشکشیدن این نظریۀ راسل، ابتدا استدلال خواهیم کرد که وقتی در زمانِ حالِ حاضر کهفرانسه اصولا پادشاهی ندارد شخصی یکبار جملۀ "پادشاه فعلی فرانسه طاس است " را وبار دیگر فُرم منطقیِ آن را بیان کند قضاوت ما در باب ارزش صدق آنها متفاوت خواهدبود (به این مساله "مسالۀ ناهمخوانی" خواهیم گفت). سپس این سوال را بررسی خواهیمکرد که آیا مدافعین نظریۀ راسل قادر به تبیین مسالۀ ناهمخوانی هستند یا خیر؟ بدینمنظور بر مبنای تمایزی که گرایس ( 1970 ) میان معنای جمله و معنایِ متکلّممی گذارد،پاسخی را از جانب مدافعین نظریۀ توصیفات راسل به مسالۀ ناهمخوانی طرح وسپس بررسی و نقد خواهیم نمود. استدلالِ ما، نظریۀ توصیفات راسلرا در برابر مس ئلۀناهمخوانی در موضع ضعف قرار می دهد؛ بدین معنا که نشان می دهد، دفاع گرایسی دربرابر مسئلۀ ناهمخوانی دفاع قابل قبولی نیست.}, keywords_fa = {نظریه توصیفات,راسل,استراوسون,مسالۀ ناهمخوانی,گرایس}, url = {https://philosophy.ihcs.ac.ir/article_2715.html}, eprint = {https://philosophy.ihcs.ac.ir/article_2715_fbcdbb6da1a4d6b84c1934e9aa7cf2ba.pdf} }
